Ethan’s Adventure: Baseball Camp!

When I arrived at baseball camp I was a little bit nervous but then I  saw two familiar faces Sam Biebel and Luke Crapser in line. Some of the  coaches  are coach  Nick , Kevin , Ron and Kyle. We  did some exercises like the ones we used to do with Mr. Barnes in gym . The we had to get to the other side of the baseball field and the last person there had to do 100 push ups!!! The next day the coaches decided to play scrimmages against  other  kids there and my team one by one point !!!!! On the third day we played pickle and did some more scrimmages and that evening there was a Nighthawks baseball game and I got a foul ball that went over the fence . The final day I got the baseball that I caught signed and that is my BASEBALL CAMP!!!!!!!

Blog Challenge #3: Share a Summer Adventure!

What are you up to?  We’d like to know!

This week’s challenge is to share one of your summer adventures on your blog (or e-mail to Miss Blessing).  We can only imagine!

Look what Finnian did!  His mom said, ” While we were in Colorado, Finnian (and our family) completed the Manitou Incline. It was quite the feat!”

I had never heard of it, but WHOA!  It has 2,744 steps that gain 2,000 feet from start to finish.  In some spots, the incline is as steep as 68%.  Figure that out, math brains.  Wow.  They even warn you it is so challenging that it might take 3-4 hours for first responders to get to you if you have a problem, so make sure you’re in shape before you do it.

Read more about the Manitou Incline.

So your adventure might not quite be THIS extreme, but tell us all about it.  We can’t wait.

Summer Blogging Challenge #2

We talk in class so often about the amazing people we value in our lives.  Their value was highlighted during the pandemic when we didn’t have the luxury of seeing “our people” whenever we wanted.

So challenge number two is to share (on your blog or in an e-mail to Miss Blessing) a photo of you together this summer with someone you have been waiting and waiting to see.  Even better, include a bit of information about what you did together or why that person is extra special.  The Lord has blessed us with so many wonderful people in our lives!

Here are mine:

I have not seen my sister Kristi and her family from South Carolina for two years now.  We Marco Polo all the time, but there is nothing like being together in person.  We have been enjoying the yard, helping our parents with jobs, freezing the bushels of peaches they brought with them, and chattering away as sisters do.

After church, we celebrated Father’s Day #2 to honor our dad, and we scooted down the road for some of Silloway Maple’s amazing maple creamees.  Yum.

Summer Blogging Challenge #1

Where are YOU reading?  Some of my favorite summer memories of third and fourth grades include taking my book along on my exploration of the day.  I read beside clear NH streams, up in trees, with a flashlight in a tent, on top of glacial erratics, in the field with the cows, and . . . . .

So have your adult snap a photo of YOU reading in a summery spot.  They can e-mail it to me anytime.  I can’t wait to hear from you, Wild Reader!

Summer Fun First!

Hi everyone!
I am in the Chicago area for a conference – yes, even principals go to classes!…and on top of that during the summer! I am also able to enjoy a few special vacation days too!

I was very excited to take my niece for her first time to Wrigley Field for her first Cubs game! Although she is not a baseball fan she had a lot of fun and asked a lot of good questions and now understands a lot more about the game, the Cubs, and why her Aunt Debbie loves❤️ the Cubbies so much!!! And a big bonus was the Cubs first batter hit a home run ⚾️ and the Cubs won!!! You know what that means!? We got to sing 🎶 Go Cubs Go with 41,000 other fans!!! Hey Chicago – and my MVCS family – what da ya say…the Cubs are gonna win today! Go Cubs Go!!!
Here are a few pictures until I get to show you more in the future!
Hope you are enjoying your summer!
Love, Miss Hellickson
