Sweet Summer

We love when you all share bits of your summer news.  Here are some of your classmates having a sweet time.  Yes to the lakes and rivers and mountains!  Yes to fireflies and fire pits and s’mores!  Yes to good books under a shady tree!  Yes to lots and lots of ice cream!

Summer Serving

From Danielle for the Bokinalas:

“Thank you so much for letting me know about the 17,000 book giveaway – I learned about it from you and one more source on the same day! I trekked out to the book barn with our children.

I thought you’d enjoy seeing that Luke (in yellow) and Natalie (up in the window) made it onto the front page of the newspaper! They were the first people to figure out the book ramp to aid folks in lowering heavy book treasures to the ground. Joshua and I were still inside finding historic Life magazines and missed out on the photo op 😉 While they waited for us they helped many elderly folks to lower their books. It was quite a fun way to serve!”

An Adventure Invitation from Alex

Alex and her whole family would like to invite you to come to Bethel for church camp this coming week July 2nd-9th.

“It is a one week family camp open to the public and a great fellowship opportunity. The first camp meeting was held there in 1886! We invite you to come for the whole week or stop in for any portion you want to.  Monday night is a special meal open to everyone, and the kids have a VBS performance at 6:00 Friday evening the 8th. The address and schedule is at our website.”

Green Mountain Bible Camp

You know what an outstanding fisher Alex is.  Her adventure this week was trying out her grandpa’s new boat.  Maybe you’d like to leave her some questions in the comments?  I’m curious about what they caught and where they went and . . . .

Our First Summer Reader Reporting In . . . .

Every summer, the blog switches over from daily classroom news to fun summer news of interest to our class and the incoming class.  One tradition is to post photos of our community reading in all sorts of fascinating summer places.  Mrs. Shedd, our class reading champion who beats us all every year, sent this photo today of reading to her grandchildren in Michigan.  Our first reader reporting in!

I also just finished gluing her tea party thank you note to go with her thank you grocery gift card.  Each student designed a teacup that showed his or her personality in some way, and it came out so very cute.  Ta da!
