Prepare to be Crazy Over Math!
We featured the first week of Crazy 8s on our blog back in the winter with Glow-in-the-Dark Geometry. Here are some glimpses of the other fantastic weeks. So many thanks to Bedtime Math and their generous sponsors of Crazy 8s. (Have you tried their bedtime math yet? Studies have shown this nightly math fun significantly improves children’s math gains.)
Geometry Scavenger Hunt–Fractions!
Geometry Scavenger Hunt–Rectangular Prisms!
Geometry Scavenger Hunt–Parallel Line Segments
As part of our “brain celebration” final trip of the year, we go adventuring around the town of Hanover in small groups on a Geometry Scavenger Hunt. We use the opportunity to review sidewalk etiquette and crosswalk safety. The students encourage each other to come up with the most amazing and unique photo ideas on the hunt, and this year’s creations are stellar. I will sprinkle the hunt in among other posts over the next month of so for you to enjoy. We love math!
Crazy 8s Meets Sewing
Wonderful Mrs. Shedd is leading a three week math/sewing project combining our Crazy 8s math exuberance with our sewing enthusiasm. Last week we explored parabolic curves through drawing and this week through sewing. Just wait and see what week three brings!
