Magical Math, Marvelous Math!

I’m sure you’ve noticed our wonderful new math curriculum, Everyday Mathematics. Perhaps you have questions that have come up during homework time. If it is a question that might be helpful to all, do send a comment.

Also, Everyday Mathematics has a website that offers a lot of helpful information, especially if your child has left the reference book at school. You can find frequently asked questions, sample games, and even an online copy of the glossary in the parent spot. Click on the student button for homework help, math fun for the family, brain teasers, and more.

Everyday Mathematics

A couple of brain teasers–Who knows the answers?

**A farmer had 17 sheep. All but 9 died. How many does the farmer have left?

**How much dirt can be removed from a hole that is 3 feet deep, 2 feet wide, and 10 feet long?

**I’ve got 2 U.S. coins that total 55 cents. One of the coins is not a nickel. What are the 2 coins?
