Thank You, Veterans

Monday began with our special Veterans Day chapel.  Mrs. Holleran led us in “My Country ‘Tis of Thee”, followed by a reading of excerpts from President Biden’s Proclamation on National Veterans and Military Families Month, 2021.  The third and fourth graders recited Abraham Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address.”

Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address”

Lieutenant Walden, an active duty surface warfare officer stationed at Norwich University NROTC, blessed us by speaking.  He shared an overview of a family in the military service to help the children understand, and he let us know of many opportunities he has to help other soldiers hear more about the Lord.

Each elementary student created a card for a specific veteran in the MakerSpace.  Mrs. Alicia Gordon volunteered all day to lead the classes, and her family also donated the supplies for the cards this year.  Thank you!

Generous third and fourth grade family chefs baked patriotic treats for all the children to enjoy.

The younger elementary students listened to My Country ‘Tis of Thee and Veterans Day to learn more about the meaning of the day.  The upper elementary students heard the poignant tale of America’s White Table.

Now seventy-five precious cards of thanks are on their way to encourage the hearts of veterans.  As President Biden said in his proclamation, “Throughout November, we show our appreciation to the spouses, partners, children, caregivers, and survivors of our service members and veterans for their selfless sacrifice on behalf of the Nation.  We honor them and their invaluable contributions; we share their pride in the Armed Forces; and we will never forget what they and their loved ones do for us.”
