Here is an example of our health commercials, our last science project of the year. Each student selected a topic of interest to explore, then created a compelling commercial to help us all improve our health choices. Each commercial had a catchy and creative idea for presenting, a J.A.M. (Just a Minute for fitness) that matched the topic, plus a sampler snack that showed the student’s understanding of healthy nutrition.
Enjoy Sean’s commercial about the health benefits of swimming, then explore other commercials on the students’ individual blogs.
To apply math skills to real life, the third graders developed their own Fall Math Fun Fair for the PreK/K students, with the fourth graders serving as buddy leaders. They each designed a game that would teach an appropriate skill, made sure the stations had variety, estimated and made lists of supplies, planned prizes, and took responsibility for the process start to finish. Watching their 21st century skills of collaboration/critical thinking/communication/creativity shine was such a treat. More coming soon . . . .

First the blue eggs…
Next “see through skin” on babies
Our feathers look blue, and growing more feathers
Poking heads over the edge of our nest – see our big black eyes
The babies have left the nest!
