DES ROCKS!

Valentine Community Service

When we arrived at the DCC, we looked for ways to be friendly and greet the seniors.  We had planned conversation topics ahead of time so that we would feel confident during the potluck, and we learned so many cool things about our new friends.  (Do you know how many pets Mrs. Curren has?)  You can just imagine our sparkling table manners!

We shared a short program of poems, old love songs, and patriotic favorites; everybody sang along with “Five Foot Two” and “Lavender Blue”.  Then we handed out our special valentines.

One of the fourth graders commented at our closing meeting, “Looking for ways to make other people happy feels really good.”

A Valentine to our Community

These fourth graders have big hearts!  We love opportunities to care for others, and today we listened to mushy love songs (Fourth graders HATE mush, so that was a bit of a joke!) while we created valentines for our Danbury senior citizens.  We thought about how being remembered can make a big difference to people.  As the glitter dried, we began looking forward to next Friday.

How do you like those puckery lips?  We had a good laugh over the love bug idea!
