Blogging Challenge

We are entering the final week of our international Blogging Challenge, and it has been quite the experience. We have all (including me) been inspired in our writing by getting helpful feedback from other writers all over the world. Take a peek at the students’ own blogs (links on the right sidebar) if you haven’t looked lately.  They have written some fantastic pieces lately.

This week’s challenge was to try some coding activities and reflect on them, so stay tuned next week to hear all about our coding growth.

Frog is so excited about his writing that even Fin can’t resist joining in!

Week 2 Challenge: Commenting

This week we put our etiquette and thinking training into action as we began leaving comments on blogs all around the world.  We are so energized, excited, and into our writing because of this!  You should have heard the cheers in our room when people started to hear back from bloggers whose writing they had commented on.

We liked thinking about what the other writer might find helpful and encouraging.  We also liked getting to know people from far away and to see a bit about what life is like there.  Hearing that other people enjoyed what we wrote felt really good.

Here are several examples of our comments on another blog.

Here is a comment one blogger received back after commenting, a whole conversation about great field trips they have taken.

We are so excited to continue on in the challenge!  Go, writers!

Student Blogging Challenge Update

We are so excited to meet blogging friends from around the world. Here are the countries participating so far.

We are also thrilled that our week 1 post was featured in the blogging challenge flipboard collection for the first week!

This week the challenge involves commenting, and we are looking forward to leaving comments on some young people’s blogs, using the commenting safety and etiquette we have been practicing.  If any of our parent or grandparent readers would enjoy typing comments with one child at a time, we would welcome volunteers during the next seven weeks of the challenge.  Just e-mail Miss Blessing to set up a convenient time.
