We think you should come to Grandparent’s Day. For one thing, you would get a tasty free lunch at the gym. You could try a beverage like soda or lemonade. Chatting with your grandkids while you eat would be a memory you would never forget. Our soup and sandwiches taste delicious.

Another good reason you should come is to play games with us in our room and at recess. You could challenge your grandchild to a mad minute and try to beat them. You could see the things we are doing in class. Would you like to check out our blogs? Come with us to recess and play a rowdy round of Gaga. It would be great if you came to Grandparent’s Day.

Glorious God of the universe,
The royal sky shoots from your fingertips,
Crowning the earth with a sapphire diadem.
Every blade of grass pokes out of its brown, dead nest shouting,
“Thank You, Lord, for a bright new spring!
I’m awake!

I praise You!”

The soft sunshine
Gently strokes the earth whispering,
“You tenderly watch over us, Creator.
You are brighter than me.
You are stronger than the gusty, fresh breeze.
The whole earth responds to the tiniest gesture of Your hand,
Awakening,
Dancing,
Smiling with joy
Over the shocking colors of Your springtime.”

Every sweet breath of air,
Every whiff of the lacy daffodil,
Every sound of wind through the long-needled pine shouts,
“Glory to God!
He is beautiful!
Our Maker is King of all!
More wonderful than our highest imaginings,

Teambuilding Challenges

Our 20 minute morning meetings each day accomplish a number of objectives. We welcome each other to the day, practice academic skills, and share from our hearts. About once a week we have been tackling a teambuilding challenge, building communication skills and developing our creative problem solving. Similar to Destination Imagination instant challenges, these brain stretchers give a task, a time limit, and an exact list of supplies you are allowed to use.

How about making the tallest thing you can with 30 mini marshmallows?

Could you design a span/bridge that goes above the surface for at least 14 inches

using only several notecards and a sheet of sticky dots?

Or how about creating a plane that can fly at least ten meters

using only spaghetti and some address labels?

Ask your child to come up with some family team challenges for you, and watch amazing creativity in action at home too!

Since our last report cards came out about the time of the famous State of the Union Address, we created our own reports on the state of our brains. We reflected on our growth, celebrated our victories, and recommitted to our personal and academic goals. Miss Hellickson even heard us read our addresses! Don’t you think we looked almost as dignified as the President of the United States always does?
