Our health and fitness unit has been a blast! We are each challenging ourselves to add or improve healthy habits such as drinking more water, filling half our plates with fruit and vegetable choices, or getting at least sixty minutes of exercise each day. We have learned a great deal about the ear, eye, nose, and tongue.
To synthesize our learning, each student chose an area of interest to research in order to create a health commercial. We watched educational “commercials” on BrainPop and KidsHealth as examples, and we put our persuasive writing techniques into action once again. The commercials included information that would help us all make good health choices, a sampler of a snack that shows their nutrition knowledge, and a personally created JAM (Just A Minute for fitness brain break).
Here are a few pictures of the first commercials. Check out each student’s blog to find out more.
