Summer Ministry

How are you giving this summer? Summer offers many of us unique opportunities to make the world a better place in different ways than during the school year. Does your family spend extra time together, drawing closer? Do you help a neighbor in the yard or garden? Could you stack wood for an elderly person from your church? How about volunteering at your local food bank? The more relaxed pace of a summer day can make it easier to lend a helping hand.

One of my annual summer opportunities is helping out at Maranatha Family Ministries. Last week I was the assistant to my sister, the Girls’ Week director. You will also notice Mrs. Shedd in her 20th year as counselor there. It was an exciting week of helping others, with people using their gifts to serve as lifeguards, cooks, fix-it helpers, singers, archery coaches, and much more. Part of my job was photographer and tech person.

So what ideas do you have for serving and giving? Leave a comment to tell us about your giving adventure!
