Exploding Blessings

“Ms. Frizzley “excitement is zapping out of my brain like lightning bolts. Do you know why? Well, Mr. Bracy and Miss Hellickson were kind enough to let me join in the brainstorm about ways our school could benefit from the Shout Out award, and one of my dreams has been to equip our elementary science lab with the items we need for the experiments in our curriculum. We set aside an amount that would give us a good start on the required non-consumable items like magnets and safety goggles.

The Lord has been multiplying that money like the loaves and fishes! Many people in our community have donated items they had, and dear Mrs. Yohe took the time to sort through her cupboards for any extras in the high school lab. We peered into all the nooks and crannies of the school for any hidden equipment.  Some donations came from unexpected places, such as a retired teacher who read about the Shout Out in the paper and wanted someone to use her personal science supplies gathered over the years. After all that, we put together the list of what was left and got ready to order it. When we did, a generous MVCS graduate actually wrote a check for the whole order that same day! Can you imagine!

So we started on the consumable items, for elementary oozing, gooey, exploding, wow activities use a lot of things like straws, toothpicks, dirt, sand, bouncy balls, matchbox cars, cotton balls, and batteries. And tennis balls. As I brought that list in to the office, Mrs. Fillian and Mrs. Farrell exclaimed, “A person donated tennis balls to the school this morning!” God knew what we needed before we even asked and sent it right to us.

So as I sort and label, I am praising God for providing so generously. Our students will be so thrilled this year and for many years to come as they observe, calculate, chart, predict, draw conclusions, and experiment with these provisions. The teachers will be smiling to be able to quickly grab a bin of flashlights, mirrors, prisms, motors, rocks, beakers, or whatever they need for that day’s lessons.  It looks like our whole science lab will be equipped by the end of the summer.

What an exploding blessing!
